Physical Layer Security of RIS-Assisted Communications Under Electromagnetic Interference

چکیده
This work investigates the impact of ever-present electromagnetic interference (EMI) on achievable secrecy performance reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided communication systems. We characterize end-to-end RIS channel by considering key practical aspects such as spatial correlation, transmit beamforming vector, phase-shift noise, coexistence direct and indirect channels, presence strong/mild EMI receiver sides. show that EMI’s effect strongly depends eavesdropper’s ability to cancel interference. highlights potential EMI-based attacks degrade physical layer security in RIS-aided communications.

Covert Communications Versus Physical Layer Security
This letter studies and compares the physical-layer security approach and the covert communication approach for a wiretap channel with a transmitter, an intended receiver and an eavesdropper. In order to make the comparison, we investigate the power allocation problems for maximizing the secrecy/covert rate subject to the transmit power constraint. Simulation results illustrate that if the eave...
متن کاملPhysical Layer Security for Multiuser MIMO Communications
Wireless multi-user MIMO communications are used more and more often to exchange sensitive data. Because of the broadcast nature of the physical medium, unauthorized receivers located within the transmission range can observe the signals sent by the transmitter to a legitimate receiver and eavesdrop them. Therefore, security has become an extremely important issue to deal with. Multiuser MIMO c...
متن کاملD2D Communications with Enhanced Physical Layer Security in Cellular Networks
In this paper, we consider secure device-to-device (D2D) direct communication in cellular networks for wiretap channel. We assume that D2D transmitter sends its data to desired D2D receiver by reusing frequency resources originally allocated to the cellular link transmission between a base station (BS) and a cellular user. When there is a single eavesdropper (ED) in wiretap channel, we propose ...
متن کاملPhysical Layer Security Issues
Conventional wired networks are subject to being tapped by a variety of means, whether copper or fiber connections are used. In addition, methods of network snooping exist that make such eavesdropping minimally invasive, but no less significant. Wireless networking has additional characteristics that also decrease physical network security. As new technologies emerge, the potential for loss of ...
متن کاملWireless Physical Layer Security
Security in wireless networks has traditionally been considered to be an issue to be addressed separately from the physical radio transmission aspects of wireless systems. However, with the emergence of new networking architectures that are not amenable to traditional methods of secure communication such as data encryption, there has been an increase in interest in the potential of the physical...
